Toronto to Byron Bay..(on the road again)
After a lovely lunch with Sal and Colin in the Hunter Valley, we made our way up the East Coast, direction Surfer's Paradise. (need to find a job)
We stop over night at Coffs Harbour and experience a mindblowing fish and chips take away at the port. Water deliciously warm for swimming in the early morning before leaving.
Back on the road 5hrs till Surfer's. The road is quite empty and the paysage as we drive up is, as it always is, quite simply stunning. Everything here in Australia is enormous, take whatever you want from Europe and then times it by 10!! The hills, the trees, the birds (!), the wildlife, the lorries, the lakes, the beaches, the six-packs......hahaha
Arriving in Surfer's, 9pm, we are taken by surprise by the skyscrapers looming over us, not a nice sensation when you realize that there isn't any where to sleep in a camper van in the middle of a city......we grab a sandwhich and a strong coffee and (eventually) find our way back out and return to Byron Bay, a quieter town an hour back south!
Byron is lovely and quite simply buzzing with young people and classy shops and cafés! We are staying in a camping site (Hot showers, toilets, BBQ's, Fridges....All very civilized!!) and the beaches are golden sand and stretch out for miles.
MOJOSURF
Lessons with the MojoSurf crew is kind of like trying to ride a bike again when your 4 but with 4 year olds teaching you!
Tanned, sculptered bodies all getting you to stand, to paddle faster, to eskimo dive under the waves, they laugh, they scream, they pull faces.....and all that in the sun and sand of Oz...... What more could a girl ask for!
Watch this space.....pro surfer coming your way!!!
Still havn't found a job yet.....getting pretty desperate! Tried a cleaning job on the camp site and only survived one morning.....No thankyou, i do NOT want to clean your dirty toilet or your shower full of hairs, your bed with stains or your kitchen run by cockroaches.....even if i am poor!!!!!!!!
Yann is teaching me with patience, the rules and bobbles of surfing, including weather conditions, different kinds of waves, safety, and my vocabulary is full of "swell", "tide", "offshore wind", "rips", "rails", "hool"......
That's all for now...
