First weekend off work and the end of our stay in Cumbebin park road with the boys. A bit sad to leave but then we missed our chance to rent the garage...2 australians rang up before us.... We organized a BBQ friday night, party around the pool (!) Gab, Hughie's brother (complete lightweight!) and Andy (Hughie and Gab's flatmate, salesman for BASE and DHD two very good surfboard brands) made some home made burger's and Yann and I bourght some sea food... Delicious!! The house is typically a boy's house... Surf boards stacked in corners, a huge flat screen tv and an expensive soround sound system...apart from that there isn't much more!! hahaha  ...Men!

Yann and I are back on the road with Tommy (oh we havn't presented you to him yet? He's our van...) This weekend Tommy took us to Coolongatta, a town south of Surfer's Paradise (north of Byron), the beaches here are worse than crowded and the water is infested with hundreds of little black spots. The town is quite quiet for a weekend.
Next stop, Victoria park national reserve, a beautiful board walk through trees twice as tall as Kerledan, unfortunatly the walk is very short because the Aboriginals don't allow visitors any further into the rainforest.
Further south we visited Ballina, very Americain, somewhat between a commercial centre and a wannabe tourist lure, maintaining a coastal ambiance without tarting itself up for the holiday bucks. We veered south again quite quickly (!!) and fell upon the Broadwater national reserve. Here we decided that we had spent far too long in the van and not enough walking. The path we chose ran along the coast, but wasn't all that interesting in the end....alot of sand, dead branches and thick bush trees. However the wallabys (small kangaroos) must love it for this reason..... bouncing across the path infront of us or discreetly nibbeling grass on the side.... !!!! Hehe

When your out on the road here, you feel free, not only do you feel like your driving through Jurassic park when you go inland, but you feel like the only people alive. The sun lifting behind you, the wind in your hair, you drive, chilled music drifting through the air, Yann sunbathing out the window, the odd car that passes, a pick-up (always a pick-up..) with a dog hanging out the window....a bit like Yann out of Tommy...(!) Driving, not knowing your destination, ending up in a place that you would never have found on a map...(their maps don't show anything anyway!!)

Saturday night, we recieved some really good news..... The boys from Cumbebin park road have invited us to go back and live with them!! $200 a week! (275 euros a month each!!) We get the room that we've been staying in, the use of everything in the house, a washing machine, a real kitchen, a bathroom, a shower, a bath even!!!! Wahhhooo
We are moving in today....very excited!

Back to work today at 4pm.... i was quite enjoying being a wanderer for a weekend...
